Farmers' Market

Elias and I were flying solo this weekend as David and his dad are out at Hoot n' Holler until mid-week.
So, we passed the time Saturday by running a few errands, then swinging by the farmers' market downtown. It paled in comparison to markets I've visited down south where fisherman, gardeners and artists come out in droves to sell their wares. Despite this, Elias and I had a good time. He charmed the pants off some guy for the rest of his strawberry jam. I took home some raisin bread, which I really hope Elias likes — the raisins might be the clincher — and we topped it all off with some garlic clippings and a bag of freshly popped popcorn.
The weather was wonderful this weekend, and in all the hubbub I forgot to send a warm Father's Day hello to my own dad!! Oops!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DAD! You're the best!

Sea, sun and the simple things

Summer in Juneau is defined by many things; the return of salmon, the long days of sunshine and often, many visitors from "down south." I can't blame them really ... Southeast Alaska is certainly amazing this time of year.
And this summer, in particular, has proved memorable. Sunny skies, warm weather and the opportunity to share it with friends and family visitors.
Yep, it's one of those "sucker summers."
Here's a sampling ...
