NOAA ship Rainier

I toured a NOAA ship Friday while it was in Port in Juneau. I have to say I'm not a boat-lover, but this one was pretty interesting. The craft and crew is re-mapping Alaska's ocean floor to identify navigational hazards, ship wrecks and other oceanic unknowns. It was an interesting tour - as far as boat tours go. After I realized, I'm a land lubber and glad to be one.
The following are the highlights:

Weekend work

This weekend David has been hard at work laying slate in our entry. This project comes on the heels of some serious and surprising water damage that happened as a result of a corroded and leaky water heater. It happens.
So, we used a soaked carpet pad and a potentially moldy underfloor as an excuse to do some demo on the house.
Elias, of course, thinks this new "off-limits" area is a total violation of his crawling rights — but, he'll just have to get over it. I'm sure the pretty new slate, once finished, will provide at least a good 15 minutes of prime excitement. And while he's preoccupied, I can fold some laundry (finally!).
Anyway, while David slaved away — he now wishes he was a tile guy — Elias and I played, took some pictures to highlight is new chompers and, well, hung out. It's how most Saturdays, I think, should be spent — just killing time.

Elias has some new Legos - big-boy ones - that were hand-me-downs from a neighbor. They're cars and trains and such. I tried to show him how to play with them yesterday.
"Look Elias! Vroom, VROOM!" I said.
He just stared at me.
A few hours later he was playing again in the living room. From the kitchen I heard, "Errrrrr. ERRRRRR...."
I walked around the corner to find him playing with a truck.
My baby is becoming a little boy.

I know, I know...

Yes, it's been far too long since my last post. But what can I say? The light bulb of mobility went off for Elias and since - well, lets just say - things aren't slowing down - literally.
Naturally, we love it. And as usual he's a joy. Our house has now become an amazing playground for him, and every stone must not be left unturned.
The latest fascination? The fridge. Here's the highlights.
