Okay. It's been almost two months since I had Elias. Now, I'm not expecting miracles, nor am I expecting over-night results - but I am ready to kick these extra pounds to the curb.
Belly flab - be gone. Saddlebags - see ya!
Elias and I have started "Summer Slim-down 08." Keep in mind he doesn't really do much but sleep, drool a little and look around - but he's part of the action anyway.
Oh yes, and Bali comes too...
We are going to explore the Juneau trail system with a whole new outlook - baby friendly trails. Whether we're in the "three-wheeler" - as my dad calls it - or the Ergo baby - I'm bound and determined to hash out the top trails for infant toting.

Stay tuned.

And now, a cute picture of some toes that will surely stay soft despite the miles we'll cover.

Purple lips

Yes, that's what happens when the blueberries come into season up here. You see folks young and old heading (carefully, mind you - we share with the bears) up into the hills and into their backyards to harvest these plump balls of summer's sweetness.
I recently ran into our neighbors and thier young one, Dylan (16 months). His hands were filthy, and twigs where stuck between his fingers. His face was plastered with a thin bluish paste and a grin spread ear to ear. His dad, Jarrod, held up a large yogurt container packed with berries. It was clear they'd been in the woods.
Yesterday, Elias, Bali and I went too. We hiked, took in the sun and took pictures. My hands were too full to pick. But don't they look delicious?

Oh, and for those of you that don't know - it's been raining and raining and raining. We had a record month of rainfall in July. (I thought global warming would make Alaska warmer!) Needless to say this made the trails really muddy. Ah well...that's what knee-high rubber boots are for!

Just plain cute!

Elias. Pre-bath. 6 weeks. Cute - but then again, I'm bias.

My dad visited around the beginning of August. It was wonderful to see him and to introduce him to the little one. He was positive the term "grandpa" just didn't fit. So instead he will be called "Papa." It's a good alternative I think - and much more youthful sounding - which is what really matters right?
We hiked when we could, saw the sights of Juneau and spent some quality time together. It was grand. Here are a few shots he took while in town.

Before there were three...

A few weeks before Elias made his grand entrance we had some photos taken of my bulging belly.

A special thank you to Andrea for creating some beautiful images!
